Today I will;
put down the hammer and nails in my mind and pick up the melody
sit in an aluminium tube in the sky
brow beat my carbon foot print into a face plant
place my tray table in the upright position
kitty corner the globe
swap the shortest day of the southern hemisphere for the longest one in the north
remind myself that I have just turned 50 … did I just type that… that really happened?
be met at an airport in a distant land by love and laughter
travel to a lush green field where a caravan is spooned by the forest
put down things, pick up pieces, be held, let go and be grateful for it all
sleep … fly
I hope these words and times find you and your clan well and watered.
To celebrate the privilege of aging, I have dusted off a Bob Dylan song from my digital crypt that I recorded a decade back… that’s 20% of my life ago and around the times I was on tour with Dylan & The Waifs. Tomorrow is a long time and may you all be forever young.
